Zamfara abduction: FG denies negotiating with terrorists

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has refuted claims that the Federal Government is engaged in negotiations with the Zamfara terrorists for the release of the abducted students from Federal University, Gusau.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, Mr. Hope Attari, Acting Director of Press and Public Relations at the MoD, clarified that Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru, strongly denounced such allegations, which were attributed to a governor.

Badaru reassured Zamfara residents that the Federal Government is committed to securing the students’ release and has directed the military and security agencies accordingly.

He emphasized that the government is not involved in negotiations with the terrorists and is diligently working to ensure the safe return of the students.

He also expressed sympathy for the affected families and noted that 13 students and 3 others had been rescued on Monday, thanks to the efforts of the military.
