Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced plans to complete the long-awaited Millennium Tower project within the next two years.
After a meeting with contractors handling various projects in the FCT, Wike emphasized the importance of the Millennium Tower, situated in the Central Area of Abuja, as a transformative multifunctional edifice.
The Millennium Tower, led by Salini Construction Nigeria Limited, aims to host cultural events, tourism, recreation, and commercial activities. Despite previous challenges and abandonment due to financial constraints, Wike expressed determination to realize the ambitious project. He stated that the tower aligns with the goal of making Abuja one of the world’s premier cities.

Wike revealed, “We are looking at the next two years, if the way we are going to structure our payment is agreeable with the contractor.” The project, conceptualized in 2005, reached 40% completion and is designed to be self-financing through generated revenue from commercial activities within the complex. The Millennium Tower encompasses a cultural center, expansive arcade, five-star hotel, auditorium, conference rooms, exhibition halls, shops, and more, aiming to redefine Abuja’s urban landscape.
