Wike initiates move to oust Atiku, Tambuwal from PDP

Nyesom Wike, the former Rivers State Governor and Federal Capital Territory Minister, has launched a fresh campaign against fellow members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), particularly targeting presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.

In a recent interview on the Channels Television political programme “Politics Today,” Wike called upon the PDP’s National Working Committee to suspend Atiku and former PDP Presidential Campaign Director General Senator Waziri Tambuwal, among others, from the party.

During the interview, Wike also belittled Dele Momodu, a former PDP presidential aspirant, describing him as politically insignificant and incapable of winning an election in his local government area.

Wike took the opportunity to commend the Justices of the Presidential Election Petition Court for their decision affirming President Bola Tinubu’s victory, emphasizing the judgment’s sound technical and practical basis.

Responding to questions about the election, Wike stressed the importance of equity, justice, and fairness, suggesting that the PDP’s high-handedness, greed, and impunity in certain areas had contributed to their election losses. He called on the National Working Committee to suspend the presidential candidate and individuals like Aminu Tambuwal in order to rebuild the PDP.

Efforts to obtain an official response from the PDP leadership were unsuccessful, but a member of the party’s National Executive Committee, speaking anonymously, dismissed Wike’s actions as a bid for attention, stating that the party would not engage with him until the appropriate time.
