The Labour Party has emphasized its commitment to reclaiming Nigeria through lawful means and without resorting to violence.
The party issued this statement in response to circulating speculations about the potential arrest of its Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on charges of inciting violence.
Obiora Ifoh, the National Publicity Secretary, released the statement in Abuja on Monday.

The party expressed awareness of various stories in print and video suggesting that Mr. Peter Obi might face arrest.
These stories were accompanied by purported prophecies calling for prayers on Obi’s behalf, insinuating impending arrest. The party considered these stories concerning, especially when video clips from pre-election and campaign speeches were manipulated to depict Obi as advocating recent violence.
The party strongly condemned this manipulation as misleading and potentially criminal, asserting that it aimed to falsely implicate Obi and trap him.
It reiterated Obi’s unwavering commitment to the rule of law and non-violent politics, citing his refusal to authorize mass protests following the questionable INEC election result announcement on March 1st, 2023.
The Publicity Secretary maintained that reclaiming Nigeria should occur through a peaceful and legitimate process, not through violence.
The insinuations that Obi is orchestrating violence were dismissed as baseless, with the party emphasizing that Obi is not a proponent of violence but a believer in achieving justice through due process.
As a man of faith, the former Anambra state Governor places his trust in Nigerians and his faith in God, not in imaginary fortune tellers or prophets. The Labour Party advised such prophets and soothsayers, whether real or imagined, to exclude Obi from their prophecies.
