Enugu State Police Command on Tuesday said operatives of the command were on the trail of unknown gunmen who attacked a police division at Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement by the spokesperson of the police command, Daniel Ndukwe, those who carried out the attack were suspected to be militias of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPoB, who are demanding the release of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu from DSS custody.
Ndukwe further explained that the attack, which according to him was repelled by the operatives of the command happened at about 4:30 am Tuesday morning.

He said “Police Operatives of the Command are on the trail of armed hoodlums, suspected to be members of the outlawed IPOB/ESN group, who in their numbers today, 18/07/2023, at about 4.30am, attempted to attack Isi-Uzo Police Division of the Command, but were repelled by Police Operatives on duty.
“Many of the miscreants escaped with gunshot wounds, while one of the Operatives who sustained gunshot wound is receiving treatment and in stable condition.
“Further development shall be communicated, please.”
