ESUT Vice Chancellor Inaugurates Book Pricing Committee
The Vice Chancellor of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Professor Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, has stated that his administration is committed to implementing University regulations, not in sacking staff of the institution.
He, however, reiterated his administration’s readiness to enforce the University’s regulations if violated by any staff member.
He made these remarks while inaugurating the Committee to Regulate Pricing and Sale of Books in the University on Tuesday, emphasizing that while the sale of textbooks is not prohibited, the prices must be regulated, and books must be sold exclusively through the University’s Bookshop.
Addressing Exploitation and Quality Concerns
Professor Okolie expressed concern over alleged widespread exploitation of students and the sale of substandard textbooks by lecturers at ESUT. He charged the committee with identifying lecturers who violate the University’s regulations and ensuring appropriate sanctions are applied.
The Chairman of the Committee, Professor John Obasikene, expressed gratitude to the University Management for entrusting them with this responsibility, assuring that the committee would fulfill its mandate effectively.
