Upcoming 2024 elections will be fair, transparent – Akufo-Addo

Ghana’s President Akufo-Addo has called upon citizens and stakeholders to join forces in ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process for the forthcoming 2024 elections. Marking the 30th anniversary of the 4th Republic, the President emphasized the pivotal role of credible elections in the foundation of functional democracies worldwide.

Addressing the nation, Akufo-Addo stressed the significance of upholding the sanctity of the ballot and respecting the regulations governing the electoral process. “No true democrat can overlook the importance of elections,” he affirmed. “It is imperative that this year’s elections adhere to fair and transparent standards, and that our collective respect for these rules is unwavering, irrespective of the outcome.”

The President highlighted the need for collaborative efforts among stakeholders to fortify Ghana’s democracy and maintain peace and stability in the country. He emphasized that this collective responsibility lies upon entities like the Electoral Commission, political parties, leaders, and the electorate alike. Akufo-Addo underscored the importance of preserving Ghana’s status as a democratic model on the African continent.
