Prof. Cyril Ndifon, the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Calabar (UNICAL), has been suspended due to allegations of violating the university’s established laws and policies bothering on sexual misconduct.
The suspension, starting from August 17, 2023, was communicated through a letter signed by the University Registrar, Mr. Gabriel Egbe.
This decision was made in response to Prof. Ndifon’s handling of a query from the University Management.
The Vice Chancellor expressed dissatisfaction with his explanations, leading to the subsequent suspension. The official letter stated that the suspension was a result of alleged violation of university laws and policies, as well as Prof. Ndifon’s response to the inquiry.
As a result of the Vice Chancellor’s dissatisfaction, Prof. Ndifon’s role as Dean of the Faculty of Law has been terminated. The suspension will be effective from August 17, 2023.
He has been directed to transfer all university property and responsibilities to the Sub-Dean of the Faculty before leaving his office. Additionally, he is required to stay off the university premises, except when summoned by the investigation panel.
