Troops from the Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA II successfully cleared four notorious camps belonging to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and their armed affiliates, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Imo State, Nigeria.
The operation took place on October 1, 2023, and was marked by the discovery of disturbing atrocities carried out by these groups.
During the clearance operation, the troops encountered numerous Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along their path to the camps. However, their superior firepower forced the irredentists to flee into neighboring forests with gunshot wounds.

The camps were found to be used for various heinous activities, including cannibalism, occult practices, and ritual killings aimed at instilling fear among law-abiding citizens. The evidence of these activities was seen in the discovery of fresh and old corpses throughout the camps.
In addition to clearing the camps, the houses of two spiritual leaders and herbalists known as “Dibias,” who fled, were destroyed. Furthermore, the shrine of the wanted terrorist Amobi Chinoso Okafor, also known as Temple, where human sacrifices were reportedly made, was demolished. The Joint Task Force neutralized two IPOB/ESN members and arrested four criminals during the operation.
Items recovered from the camps included various denominations of Biafra currencies, a new power bike, four motorcycles, solar panels, POP cements, and a petroleum tanker suspected to have been hijacked from hardworking Igbo owners.
Operation UDO KA II reaffirmed its commitment to combating crime and criminality while following the established rules and regulations guiding its operations. The Joint Task Force called on law-abiding citizens in the South-East region to assist in ending the insecurity caused by the activities of these terrorist groups by providing timely, credible, and reliable information. They urged individuals not to become victims of these criminal acts that desecrate the Igbo land.
