A devastating pipeline explosion rocked the Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers state, claiming the lives of at least twenty individuals on Sunday night.
Additionally, fifteen individuals sustained severe fire burns and are currently undergoing treatment in local hospitals.
Vincent Job, the chairman of Ogba Egbema of the council, confirmed the tragic loss of lives while also levelling accusations against security personnel responsible for safeguarding the oil facility.

Job alleged collusion and compromise among these security personnel, pointing fingers at them for enabling oil theft activities that led to the fatal incident.
The fatal explosion occurred at the high-powered pressure multiple trunk line owned by the Nigeria Agip Oil company. Reports indicate that the individuals met their demise while attempting to siphon crude from the pipelines, which transport various products to the NAOC facility at OB plant.
Expressing regret over the incident, Chairman Vincent Job lamented the avoidable deaths resulting from tampering with the high-pressure pipeline.
He unequivocally accused security personnel of colluding with oil thieves, contributing to the tragic outcome.
