Tinubu suspends Halima Shehu as NSIPA boss

In a recent development, President Bola Tinubu has sanctioned the immediate suspension and launch of a probe into the conduct of a high-ranking official overseeing the National Social Investment Program Agency. This decision follows allegations of financial impropriety within the agency’s operations.

The embattled official, Ms. Halima Shehu, served as the National Coordinator and CEO of the agency. Dr. Akindele Egbuwalo, previously the National N-POWER Program Manager, has been appointed in an acting capacity to oversee the agency while the investigation unfolds.

This decision comes mere months after Shehu’s confirmation by the Senate, raising eyebrows over the sudden turn of events. Her professional history spans across various roles within social development sectors, notably serving as the National Coordinator of the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme and contributing to the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development between 2017 and 2022.
