Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Bola Tinubu, has reassured Nigerians that the upcoming implementation of the new minimum wage will lead to a substantial increase in workers’ salaries, potentially doubling their current earnings.
Ngelale shared this information during a recent interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he also discussed the Tinubu administration’s strategies to mitigate the impact of subsidy removal.
In addition, Ngelale disclosed that governors across Nigeria have collectively received over N300 billion since the start of the administration.

While refraining from preempting the work of the minimum wage committee in various states, Ngelale emphasized the president’s intention for a significant wage increase, highlighting the aim to double the existing minimum wage.
Furthermore, Ngelale conveyed the government’s commitment to lowering the costs of essential commodities for Nigerians.
The federal government is actively supporting transportation companies and implementing agricultural interventions and SMEs capitalization measures to achieve this. During the latest National Economic Council (NEC) meeting, all states reached a consensus to endorse the new minimum wage.
