Tinubu Orders NIMC DG to Begin Pre-Retirement Leave

In a move aimed at initiating key leadership changes, President Bola Tinubu has instructed the Director-General/CEO of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. Aliyu Abubakar Aziz, to embark on a 90-day pre-retirement leave.

The directive, effective from August 24, 2023, signifies the eventual retirement of Engr. Aziz from service on November 24, 2023.

This decision, revealed in a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, has implications for the leadership landscape of NIMC.

President Tinubu has endorsed the appointment of Engr. Bisoye Coker-Odusote as the Acting Director-General/CEO of NIMC for the initial 90-day period, starting from August 24, 2023.

Following this transitional period, Engr. Coker-Odusote will undertake a full four-year term as the substantive NIMC Director-General/CEO, commencing on November 24, 2023.

In a parallel development, President Tinubu has sanctioned the appointment of Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub as the new Director/CEO of the Directorate of Technical Aid Corps (DTAC).

This appointment comes in the wake of the expiration of the tenure of Dr. Pius Osunyikanmi, the former DTAC Director/CEO. The appointment of Hon. Buba Yakub is effective immediately.

These leadership changes underscore President Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring effective and capable leadership in critical government agencies.

The transition at NIMC reflects a seamless approach, with Engr. Coker-Odusote poised to take over the reins of leadership from Engr. Aziz after the interim period.
