Bauchi State Police have apprehended a suspect in connection with a crime where a 25-year-old man had his hand severed and was stabbed in the head.
The suspect, identified as Muhammad Abdullahi, also known as Luwawu, had been on the police’s wanted list for two years due to his involvement in thuggery and causing grievous harm. The heinous act was carried out with two others who are currently at large.
The breakthrough in the investigation occurred when a police patrol team conducted a raid at a black spot in Sabon Layi, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis, leading to Abdullahi’s arrest.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, the incident took place in 2021 when the suspects, armed with machetes and other deadly weapons, attacked and assaulted Mubarak Abdullahi in the Unguwan Sarakuna area. The victim suffered severe injuries, including the loss of his left hand.
During interrogation, Muhammad Abdullahi reportedly confessed to his involvement in the crime. The police are now intensifying their efforts to track down the other suspects, who will also face charges once apprehended.
In a separate incident, detectives from the ‘C’ divisional police headquarters arrested six suspected members of the infamous Sara-Suka group. The arrests took place while raiding a criminal hideout in Nasarawan Madina Quarters, Bauchi. The preliminary investigation suggests that the suspects were involved in armed robbery and thuggery.
During the operation, the police recovered one long knife and suspected cannabis sativa (Indian hemp) from the suspects. The arrested individuals have reportedly confessed to their involvement in criminal activities.
