Supreme Court’s Landmark Decision: NNPP Hails Reinstatement of Kano Governor
In a significant legal turnaround, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Lagos State has lauded the Supreme Court for its recent ruling, reinstating Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano.
The apex court’s decision overturned the verdicts of lower courts, reiterating the crucial role of the electorate in determining political leadership.
Sheriff Oladejo, NNPP’s Secretary in Lagos State, expressed gratitude for what he described as the Supreme Court’s “overwhelming and unanimous decision.” He underscored the importance of the court’s intervention in rectifying what he deemed a miscarriage of justice by the lower courts.

Oladejo highlighted the Supreme Court’s rebuke of the lower courts for engaging in what was termed a “voyage of discovery” concerning Gov. Abba Yusuf’s membership in NNPP. He emphasized that the determination of party membership falls within the purview of political parties themselves.
“The good people of this country and particularly voters in Kano state knew who they voted for and who deserved to be their governor,” Oladejo asserted, expressing surprise at the decisions of the lower courts.
The NNPP Secretary commended the judiciary’s courage, noting that the Supreme Court’s decision averted a potential political crisis in Kano State. He stated that the ruling not only puts an end to litigations against Yusuf’s mandate but also reinstates confidence in the state government’s ability to deliver on its promises.
