The Super Falcons of Nigeria defeated Ethiopia with an overwhelming 4-0 victory (5-1 on aggregate) to guarantee their place in the third qualifying round for the 2024 Women’s Football Olympic Games in Paris. It was an amazing exhibition of football brilliance.
The Super Falcons’ path to this victory started with a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the 2024 Olympic qualifying match in Ethiopia, which was saved by a spectacular long-range goal by Atletico Madrid player Rasheedat Ajibade.

In the 68th minute, Asisat Oshoala, a forward for Barcelona Femeni, connected brilliantly with Uchenna Kanu’s cross to increase Nigeria’s score.
After just four minutes, Ajibade scored her second goal of the match, extending the scoring barrage. Her previous pass to Oshoala, who cut by the Ethiopian defense from the right wing, created the conditions for this simple finish.
Nigeria has successfully qualified for the third qualifying round with their win, and they will now face the winner of the Uganda vs. Cameroon match. The dates for the third qualifying round of games are set for February 9–28, 2024.
