In a startling revelation before the House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee, Kolo Haruna, the Special Assistant to the Chairperson of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Muheeba Dankaka, has unveiled a disturbing job racketeering operation.
Kolo detailed how he was involved in remitting proceeds from the sale of job positions to his principal.
Kolo’s testimony shed light on an alleged scheme where job positions within public offices were being sold to close allies by Muheeba Dankaka. He claimed that prospective job seekers were instructed by Dankaka to pay a sum ranging from N1 million to N1.5 million (Nigerian Naira) to Kolo’s personal bank account. Kolo then delivered the cash proceeds to Dankaka in accordance with her instructions.

In a video of the session uploaded on Twitter by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and monitored by SaharaReporters, Kolo explained that Dankaka had instructed him to oversee the collection of funds and subsequent delivery of the proceeds to her in cash. He mentioned that Dankaka had exerted her influence to control all communication from the Federal Character Commission and even brought in multiple individuals for job placements, each paying the specified fee.
Kolo emphasized that he acted solely based on the instructions given by his principal and was not personally engaged in selling jobs. He clarified that the funds were withdrawn using Point of Sale (POS) machines and transferred between various accounts.
The allegations have raised concerns over ethical conduct, transparency, and fairness in the recruitment process within the public sector. The House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee is tasked with investigating the mismanagement of personnel recruitment, employment racketeering, and the alleged mismanagement of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).
