Simon Ekpa Announces Plan to Challenge Nigeria’s Presence in Biafraland

In a bold move aimed at challenging the legitimacy of the Nigerian government within Biafraland, Mr. Simon Ekpa, the self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile, recently made a significant announcement via his social media handle, @simon_ekpa.

Under the banner of “DELEGITIMIZATION OF NIGERIA GOVERNMENT WITHIN BIAFRA TERRITORY,” Ekpa declared the commencement of a campaign to delegitimize Nigeria’s presence in Biafraland. The campaign, which includes ongoing Monday sit-at-home actions, is set to escalate if certain demands are not met.

One of the primary demands is the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and other Biafrans who are allegedly being held illegally by the Nigerian state. Ekpa and his supporters also call for the dismantling of roadblocks and checkpoints in Biafraland.

However, it’s worth noting that the enforcement of sit-at-home orders has also fueled criminal activities in the region. Some of these criminal activities are believed to be sponsored by individuals from the region who benefit from the proceeds of these illegal activities.

After an initial two-week sit-at-home protest yielded mixed results, Ekpa made a significant adjustment to his approach. Simon Ekpa has demonstrated adaptability in his strategy. Initially, Ekpa and his supporters had called for a series of sit-at-home actions, lasting entire days, as part of their campaign to delegitimize the Nigerian government’s presence in Biafraland. The new strategy introduced a 6-hour sit-at-home protest, representing a shift towards more targeted and manageable civil disobedience actions. This adjustment aims to strike a balance between making a statement and minimizing the disruption experienced by the Biafran population.

Should these demands remain unmet by September 15, 2023, Ekpa outlined a three-week civil disobedience plan, which includes curfew periods and shutdowns of government Secretariats in all Biafran states. Here is a breakdown of the proposed plan:

Week One:

• 18.9.2023: Normal Monday sit-at-home.
• 19.9.2023 to 22.9.2023: Curfew from 6 am to 12 noon.
• 23.9.2023 & 24.9.2023: Normal movement in Biafra territory.

Week Two:

• 25.9.2023: Normal Monday sit-at-home.
• 26.9.2023 to 29.9.2023: Curfew from 6 am to 12 noon.
• 30.9.2023 & 1.10.2023: Normal movement in Biafra territory.

Week Three:

• 2.10.2023: Normal Monday sit-at-home.
• 3.10.2023 to 6.10.2023: Curfew from 6 am to 12 noon.

These actions are a clear indication of the growing tension and discontent within certain segments of the Biafran population.
