Shakeup in Police: 14 AIGs, 26 CPs Redeployed by IGP

In a significant shakeup within the Nigerian police force, Inspector-General Olukayode Egbetokun has issued orders for the posting and redeployment of 40 senior officers, including 14 Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) and 26 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to various commands and formations across the country.

The Police Service Commission authorized the move, which aims to develop a professionally competent, service-driven, rule-of-law-compliant, and people-friendly police force. This restructure is also in line with the recent promotions of top executives to the next level.

Ogundele Ayodeji, Patrick Edung, Badru Lawal, Bartholomew Onyeka, and others are among the AIGs affected by the redeployment, with each taking on crucial roles in different zones and units. At the same time, the 26 CPs, including George Chuku, Ahmed Tijani, Disu Olatunji Rilwan, and others, would assume duties in various states and specialized units.

The AIGs who were posted and redeployed include:

  2. Zone 11 Osogbo – AIG Patrick Edung
  3. Border Patrol FHQ – AIG Badru Lawal
  4. Zone 8 Lokoja – AIG Bartholomew Onyeka
  5. DOPS FHQ – AIG Suleiman Yusuf
  6. FCID Annex Alagbon Lagos – AIG Idowu Owohunwa
  7. Maritime Lagos – AIG Rhoda Olofu
  8. Zone 13 Ukpo Dunukofia Awka – AIG Godwin Aghaulor
  9. ONSA Abuja – AIG Effiom Ekot
  10. CTU FHQ Abuja – AIG Anene Innocent
  11. Zone 16 Yenagoa – AIG Odama Ojeka
  12. Zone 4 Makurdi – AIG Ebong Eyibio,
  13. Zone 17 Akure – AIG Adebowale Williams
  14. Investment FHQ Abuja- AIG Sahabo Yahaya.
