Omokri’s impassioned appeal centered on the proposal to issue an Executive Order authorizing the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to ban sports betting apps from the App Store of any GSM Internet Service Provider in Nigeria. Additionally, he suggested the revocation of licenses for physical sports betting operators across the country.
Highlighting alarming statistics, Omokri pointed out that an astonishing $1 billion is being spent daily on gambling activities in Nigeria, as reported by the National Lottery Trust Fund.
