Adamawa State witnessed a day of chaos and violence as thousands of youths went on a rampage, targeting government warehouses in a bid to loot essential items.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, left at least four people dead, according to reports.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) warehouse at PZ Roundabout, adjacent to the Yola International Airport, became the epicentre of the mayhem. The frenzied mob made off with grains and various other supplies, with over 200 tricycle vehicles loaded with looted goods streaming out of the NEMA warehouse in broad daylight.

In the midst of the looting, armed hoodlums took advantage of the situation to rob innocent residents of their possessions, including cell phones, adding to the chaos and fear among the populace.
Responding to the escalating violence, security operatives took firm action to control the situation. They confronted the rioters, and in the process, at least four alleged looters were fatally shot. A looter who spoke with SaharaReporters admitted that their actions came at a heavy price, with casualties resulting from clashes with security personnel.
An anonymous military officer corroborated the use of force by stating that gunshots were fired to prevent the advancing mob from posing a more significant threat.
The situation remains tense, with a curfew imposed by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, bringing the streets to an eerie emptiness as businesses and shops closed down to comply with the 24-hour restriction.
The outbreak of violence and rampant looting is believed to be fueled by the recent removal of fuel subsidies, which has led to a surge in food prices and increased economic hardships for the people of Adamawa State.
The police have arrested 47 individuals in connection with the looting spree, although the exact number of casualties remains unconfirmed at this time.
As the state grapples with the aftermath of the violence, armed security personnel, including soldiers, police officers, and operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, have been deployed to patrol the streets and enforce the curfew.
