Professors Okwor, Oji, emerge Senate Reps to ESUT Governing Council

The ESUT Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Mary Ifeoma Okwor, and the Director of ESUT Consultancy Services, Prof. Okey Oji, were on Wednesday, elected as Senate Representatives to ESUT Governing Council.

Prof. Okwor who polled the highest number of votes got 195 votes, while Prof. Oji, came second with a total of 164 votes. Prof. Anthonia Egbo , who polled 67 votes came third on the log.

While announcing the results, the chairman of the Electoral Committee, Prof. Mike Anyanwokolo, stated that five votes were voided due to double voting.

“Going by the number of votes cast, Professors Mary Okwor, and Okey Oji, stand elected as Senate Representatives to ESUT Governing Council,” Prof. Anyanwokolo declared.

While congratulating the winners, the Vice Chancellor of ESUT, Professor Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, who was the chairman of the Senate Meeting, equally thanked Prof Egbo, for her gallant fight in the election.

He described the election which was conducted through secret-ballot system as credible and transparent.

In her post election remarks, Prof. Okwor, expressed her appreciation to her supporters, describing the experience as overwhelming.

She promised impactful representation at the Governing Council of the University, assuring that the Senate and the entire University community would benefit a lot from her representation.

Equally in his remarks, Prof. Oji, commended the University Management, the Electoral Committee and his fellow contestants for their good jobs.

He stated that the results were determined by a well nurtured democratic process, adding ESUT has demonstrated that universities should be hub of democracy.

“My idea is to make sure that there is a networking which would bring peace, development and harmony to the University. I would help to get grants that would help the University function seamlessly,” he said.

Other members of the Electoral Committee include the chairman of the ESUT Senate Ceremonials Committee, Prof. Martins Anikwe, and a former member of ESUT Governing Council, Prof. Chinelo Igwenagu.
