Police reassure on rescue of Zamfara kidnapped varsity students

On Sunday, the Zamfara Police Command issued a statement in Gusau, assuring the public of ongoing efforts by security forces to free the remaining students of Federal University Gusau who were abducted by kidnappers.

The incident, which took place on September 22nd around 02:50 AM, involved armed bandits invading student hostels near the university in Sabongida community. Regrettably, an unspecified number of students were taken captive.

However, a joint operation by the police and other security agencies successfully led to the rescue of seven of the kidnapped students, who have since been reunited with the university’s management.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Yazid Abubakar, urged the public to remain calm, emphasizing that collaborative efforts with security agencies continue to work towards the rescue of the remaining students.

Furthermore, the state Police Commissioner, Muhammad Dalijan, visited the scene of the incident and implemented measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
