In a resounding victory against criminal activity, Enugu Police operatives, under the leadership of CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, have executed a daring rescue operation.
On the evening of August 20, 2023, a collaborative team of police from NPF Special Forces, Awkunanaw Police Division, and Tactical Teams of the Enugu State Command, led by DCP Olasoji Akinbayo, successfully rescued a male kidnapping victim at Centenary along Enugu/Port-Harcourt Expressway.
The operation resulted in a confrontation with the kidnappers, leading to the elimination of one assailant known as “Baron,” while the remaining criminals escaped with injuries.

During the operation, police recovered the victim’s black Lexus 350 Jeep, along with a locally made revolver gun loaded with 4 cartridges and another homemade pistol used by the criminals.
Furthermore, diligent pursuit of the fleeing gang members led to the discovery of the lifeless body of a second criminal, identified as Chukwunonso a.k.a. “Nolly,” in a forest where the gunfight took place. Both of these criminals were high-priority targets on the Command’s watch-list.
CP Uzuegbu commended the swift and effective response of the operatives to his innovative crime-fighting strategies. He urged all personnel to maintain this momentum, reiterating that unrepentant criminals will find no safe haven in the state under his leadership as Commissioner of Police.
