Dr. Nwachukwu Anakwenze, a former Presidential aspirant within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has called on the party leadership to select a Southern presidential candidate if former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, emerges as the PDP National Chairman.
Anakwenze emphasized that Saraki is highly qualified to lead the party and promote reconciliation among members and groups within the PDP.
However, he cautioned that the PDP must avoid repeating the mistakes that previously led to leadership crises within the party. To regain the trust of aggrieved members and the public, Anakwenze suggested that the next PDP presidential candidate should come from the Southern region, should Saraki, a Northerner, assume the role of National Chairman. This approach, according to Anakwenze, would help restore balance within the party.
