Specializing in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Clinical Research
We are in search of an enthusiastic, dedicated, and diligent PhD candidate who possesses a strong interest in epidemiology, statistics, and clinical research within the expansive and captivating realm of tropical medicine. This position will be based in Hamburg, Germany, requiring the ability to work autonomously and within a multicultural, multidisciplinary team to fulfill responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and conduct research elements integrated within completed or ongoing clinical and epidemiological studies in Germany or African countries.
- Analyze datasets derived from cross-sectional and longitudinal studies.
- Support ongoing clinical studies conducted by the Department of Clinical Research.
- Publish research outcomes in peer-reviewed journals and deliver presentations at international conferences.
Qualifications:
- University degree (Medical Doctorate) or equivalent expertise in medicine with proficiency in quantitative analytical research skills.
OR
- University degree (Master) or equivalent expertise in epidemiology or biostatistics, accompanied by documented supplementary expertise in a related discipline such as public/global health, medicine, or social sciences.
- Proficiency in quantitative analytical research skills, including data management.
- Strong statistical analysis skills for datasets using Stata or other statistical software.
- Full command of both written and spoken English; working knowledge of German is advantageous but not obligatory.
- Preparedness and capacity to travel abroad for short-term (approximately 2-4 weeks per year) fieldwork in Africa.
- Previous work experience in low- and middle-income countries/Global South is advantageous.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to diligently tackle complex tasks over extended periods.
- Willingness to engage in departmental support activities.
