The Structural Parasitology group, led by Dr. Sebastian Zoll, is at the forefront of research dedicated to understanding the structural basis of interactions between parasite surface proteins and human host factors. The group’s mission is to elucidate immune defense strategies of parasites and contribute to the development of innovative therapeutic strategies for neglected diseases. Responsibilities:
The successful candidates will employ an integrated structural biology approach, utilizing techniques such as single-particle cryo-electron microscopy, X-ray crystallography, small-angle X-ray scattering, and biophysical methods to study protein-protein interactions. This position provides hands-on training in a protein biochemistry lab and in structural data processing using Linux workstations.
Requirements:
What you should bring to the table:
- A university degree (M.Sc.) in biology, biochemistry, or a related field, along with a strong interest in structural biology.
- A passion for structural biology and computational work.
- Ideally, you’re a team player with the drive and dedication to design experiments and analyze data independently.
- We value accountability and reliability and seek a candidate motivated to acquire new skills.
- Proficiency in both English oral and written communication is mandatory.
- Prior experience in protein expression and purification is an advantage.
