The Global Wetland Center:

Your Role:
As a PhD student, you will play a vital role in the modeling of wetland biogeochemistry at both site and catchment scales. Working in an inspiring team that integrates modeling, in-situ measurements, and Earth observation, you will contribute to the development of a novel model describing C and N biogeochemistry in wetlands. Your work will be instrumental in coupling this model with a catchment-scale hydrology model, with potential applications in natural and cultivated wetlands.

Qualifications:
Applicants should hold an MSc degree in geography, environmental sciences, ecology, or related disciplines. We seek highly motivated individuals with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Fluency in spoken and written English is essential. Previous experience in process-based ecosystem modeling and analysis of large datasets will be advantageous.
PhD Programme Options:
To be eligible for the regular PhD programme, you must have completed a degree program equivalent to a Danish master’s degree (180 ECTS/3 FTE BSc + 120 ECTS/2 FTE MSc) related to the project’s subject area.

- Successful enrolment as a PhD student at the PhD School at the Faculty of SCIENCE, University of Copenhagen.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Conduct independent research under supervision.
- Complete PhD courses corresponding to approx. 30 ECTS / ½ FTE.
- Participate in active research environments, possibly including a stay at another research institution abroad.
- Engage in teaching and knowledge dissemination activities.
- Author scientific papers targeting high-impact journals.
- Defend a PhD thesis based on your research project.
