The Department of Biology is seeking applicants for a fully funded PhD fellowship in structural and functional characterization of newly discovered macro-conotoxins. This project is part of the research project “Unravelling the universe of macro-conotoxins,” funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark.
Project Details:
- Start Date: Expected to be November 1, 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter.
- Location: Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
Project Overview:
The project involves the biochemical, structural, and functional characterization of large toxins called macro-conotoxins, found in predatory marine cone snails. These toxins are disulfide-rich animal venom proteins and peptides. The research aims to study previously uncharacterized superfamilies of macro-conotoxins whose functions are unknown. The project will be conducted in collaboration with labs at the University of Utah, USA.
