The Katsina State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has reported the arrest of over 100 drug suspects in the state between July 10 and August 10.
The new state commander of the agency, Hassan Sani-Abubakar, revealed this during a press conference in Katsina on Thursday.
Sani-Abubakar disclosed that the suspects would undergo investigation and subsequently be charged in court. Since assuming office on July 10, the commander informed that the command had also confiscated around 70 kg of various illicit substances across the state.

As a Commander of Narcotics, Sani-Abubakar emphasized the command’s commitment to intensify its operations to eliminate drug abuse within the state. He pledged to thoroughly address the issue by targeting areas where drug dealers and users typically operate, leaving no stone unturned.
The new commander has actively engaged with various stakeholders in the state, including security agencies, to garner their support in the fight against drug abuse in Katsina. He highlighted the importance of raising awareness about the dangers of drug trafficking and abuse, as well as the broader issues associated with drug-related crimes.
Sani-Abubakar articulated his vision for his tenure, stating, “My focus, while here, will be engaging the whole stakeholders to double effort to ensure that we reduce this menace to the barest minimum.” This proactive approach seeks to address not only drug-related crimes but also the underlying challenges associated with drug abuse, fostering a safer and healthier environment for the people of Katsina.
