Okuama Tragedy: Soldiers’ Downfall in the Grip of Suspected Mercenaries and Oil Bunkerers

In a surprising turn of events, recent revelations regarding the tragic killing of 17 soldiers in Delta State on March 14 have shifted the narrative away from inter-community conflict, according Vanguard Report. Instead, emerging evidence suggests that a group of oil bunkerers, possibly hired as mercenaries, may have been responsible for orchestrating the massacre.

The Nigerian Army, deployed extensively in Delta and Bayelsa States, has been actively pursuing the perpetrators and recovering stolen weapons. Although some suspects have been apprehended, the army has yet to formally announce the capture of the killers.

Intelligence reports prompted soldiers to lay siege to the Okuama community and subsequently invade the Igbomotoru community in Bayelsa State, targeting a suspected militant leader and oil thief believed to be linked to the killings.
