Ohanaeze Ndigbo commends Igbo-Eze North Council Chairman on infrastructure devt.

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Igbo-Eze North chapter, Enugu State, on Sunday, commended the Chairman of Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, Hon. Michael Uche Ogalla, over massive infrastructure development in the council area.

Addressing the council chairman at his country home, Umuopu, the chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the local government, Chief Jonathan Mama, stated that the aggressive infrastructure development witnessed in Igbo-Eze North has rejuvenated the economic and social lives of the residents.

Chief Mama further added that the local government chairman has equally committed enormous resources in agriculture, health, education and youth empowerment which according to him, would engender sustainable development of the people.

While expressing delight over the visit, the Council chairman assured that his government would not relent in its efforts to preserve the traditional norms and values of the people.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo is the umbrella organization that charts the socio-political part of the Igbo nation. As the custodian of our norms and values, Ohanaeze Ndigbo is symbolic of the Igbo identity.

“I want to thank the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Igbo-Eze North chapter for holding forth and being good ambassadors. I hold you in high esteem. I have deliberately delayed this visit because I didn’t want you to visit me elsewhere, than my house.

“As a government, we are not oblivious of the moral decadence in the society. We cannot gloss over the imperative of knowing who we are, where we are coming from and what we represent.

“Putting infrastructure in place is not enough, we must have a people who are guided by our age long values and ethos. We are working closely with community leadership structures to re-orient and inculcate moral rectitude in our people, especially the younger ones.”

In his vote of thanks, Chief Hillary Ogili, pledged the support of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Igbo-Eze North chapter, to the administration of Ogalla.

Others on the Ohanaeze Ndigbo delegation were; the Vice Chairman, Chief Chukwugozie Luke Apeh; the Chief scribe, Ichie Abel Idoko; Ohanaeze Ndigbo PRO, Comrade Simeon Eke; and Nze Kingsley Nweze.
