Adegoke Adeyanju, an APC lawmaker representing Yewa North 1 State Constituency, moved the motion for Oluomo’s impeachment, seconded by Ademola Adeniran, another APC lawmaker representing Sagamu II State Constituency.
Elemide, the newly elected Speaker, assured the people of the state that they could expect the best from the new leadership. He emphasized that the change in leadership was supported by 18 members, adding that Governor Dapo Abiodun had no involvement in the impeachment.

One of the reasons cited for Oluomo’s impeachment included allegations of gross misconduct, high-handedness, lack of focus and transparency, arrogance, poor leadership style, financial misappropriation, and inciting members against each other.
The Clerk and Deputy Clerk, Mr. Deji Adeyemo and Mrs. Funmilayo Adeyemi, were present at the plenary session, which saw significant security presence at the assembly complex.
