Obi Urges Nigerian Youths to Take Charge, Criticizes Old Politics

In a recent event commemorating the one-year anniversary of the February 25th, 2023 Presidential Elections, Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, addressed a gathering in Abuja.

During the event, themed “Redefining Our Options and Consolidating our Legacies,” Obi emphasized the urgent need for Nigerian youths to reclaim their country from leaders who perceive national leadership as a “criminal racket.”

In his speech titled ‘Tribute to Hope,’ Obi acknowledged the challenges faced by the nation and the collective responsibility to address them. He highlighted the determination of Nigerian youths to bring about change, stating that they “cannot wait to take back their country” from those who exploit national leadership for personal gain.

Reflecting on the current state of the nation, Obi asserted that the fears expressed during the election campaign about the consequences of following traditional political paths have become a reality. He expressed concerns about the national economy, rising poverty rates, and escalating unemployment, particularly among the youth.

Drawing attention to hunger protests and the desperation of Nigerians to secure affordable food, Obi lamented the tragic loss of lives during stampedes at places offering discounted rice. Despite these challenges, he commended the patriotism of Nigerians and their optimism about the country’s future.

Obi reassured his supporters and the Nigerian populace that, despite setbacks, his resolve and optimism in the possibility of a new, compassionate, prosperous, and equitable Nigeria remain unshaken. He acknowledged the suffering of the people but emphasized their unwavering commitment to the Nigerian identity.
