In an effort to promote constructive dialogue and address the grievances raised by the labour unions, the IGP has directed Commissioners of Police and supervisory Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to engage in meaningful discussions with the NLC/TUC leadership to find common ground and foster understanding.
The Nigeria Police Force emphasizes its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens during the planned protests, with all necessary measures in place to facilitate peaceful demonstrations. However, the force warns that any attempt by miscreants to exploit the situation for violent purposes will be met with a firm, professional, and lawful approach.
Acknowledging the potential challenges posed by the protests, the Nigeria Police Force asserts its preparedness to deploy all available resources to maintain law and order and protect lives and property. The IGP calls on all officers to be vigilant, professional, and uphold the highest standards of conduct during this period.
Encouraging peaceful dialogue as the most effective means of resolving grievances, the Police urges stakeholders, including the NLC, TUC, and civil society groups, to embrace constructive engagement and mutual understanding for a seamless exercise of civil rights. The Police assures citizens of a secure and conducive environment for open dialogue and peaceful demonstrations.
