Djokovic Seeks US Open Success After Olympic Triumph

Novak Djokovic, buoyed by his recent Olympic gold, is set to defend his US Open title as the tournament kicks off on Monday. The world No. 1, who reclaimed the top spot in the rankings, has not played since his Olympic victory and will face Moldovan qualifier Radu Albot in his opening match.

Djokovic, who took a break from the American hard-court swing to recover from a grueling summer, expressed his desire to “never recover” from the euphoric feeling of his Olympic win. Despite his recent success, Djokovic admitted he’s still searching for his best form and has been working to build his fitness and game for the US Open.

The tournament will see stiff competition, with Jannik Sinner arriving fresh from a Cincinnati Masters 1000 victory and Carlos Alcaraz, the 2022 champion, eager to capitalize on his first major win. Casper Ruud and Daniil Medvedev also pose significant threats, with Ruud recovering from illness and Medvedev, a former US Open champion, feeling “perfect” and motivated by the support of the New York crowd.

As the final Grand Slam of the year, the US Open promises a thrilling contest with many players capable of clinching the title. Djokovic’s quest for a 25th Grand Slam and his return to form will be closely watched as the tournament unfolds.
