Nigerian Troops Neutralize Terrorists and Arrest Criminals

The Nigerian military has reported significant success in its operations across the six geopolitical zones of the country. Between July 17 and 28, troops have achieved notable milestones, including the elimination of 59 terrorists and the arrest of 137 suspected criminals.

• Weapons and Ammunition Recovery: A total of 68 weapons and 1,364 rounds of ammunition were recovered during the operations. The weapons seized include 26 AK47 rifles, one GPMG (General Purpose Machine Gun), one AKMS rifle, one FN rifle, four pump-action shotguns, five pistols, and 19 Dane guns. The ammunition retrieved consists of 1,083 rounds of 7.62mm special, 228 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, and 14 rounds of 5.56 x 45mm. Additionally, 15 fully loaded AK47 magazines and nine rounds of 9mm ammo were confiscated.
• Hostage Rescue: Troops successfully rescued 88 kidnapped hostages, providing relief to their families and demonstrating the military’s commitment to safeguarding the citizens.
• Oil Theft Interdiction: In their efforts to combat oil theft, the military seized 323,650 liters of stolen crude oil, 128,700 liters of illegally refined AGO (Automotive Gas Oil), and 4,000 liters of DPK (Dual Purpose Kerosene). The seizure of such a large quantity of stolen oil denies criminals significant profits and reinforces the state’s determination to preserve its resources.
