Nigerian Police Initiate Disbursement of N535m Insurance Benefits

Yesterday marked a significant milestone as the Nigerian Police Force, under the leadership of Acting Inspector General Kayode Egbetokun, commenced the distribution of cheques to provide insurance benefits to the next-of-kin of officers who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty, as well as those who suffered permanent deformities. This initiative aims to support the families of fallen heroes and personnel who have endured life-altering injuries while discharging their lawful duties.

The disbursement of cheques, totaling N535 million, was announced in a statement signed by Police Spokesman and Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi. These insurance benefits cover 68 families, including the next-of-kin of deceased officers and those injured or disabled in the line of duty, as captured under the Group Life Assurance 2022/2023 Policy Year.

Highlighting the value of human life, Acting Inspector General Kayode Egbetokun expressed the firm belief that the Nigeria Police Force prioritizes the well-being of its officers and personnel. He emphasized that the force is committed to fulfilling its obligation of providing comprehensive welfare support, including insurance and other benefits, to all police personnel who have made immense sacrifices for the nation. This support aims to create an environment where every officer feels valued, protected, and motivated to give their best in service to the country.

In addition to the distribution of insurance benefits, the Inspector General received a generous contribution of N70 million from Anchor Insurance Company Limited. This significant financial support will be allocated to the rebuilding of the Kano State Command headquarters, which was severely damaged in a devastating fire incident on January 14, 2023. The funds will play a vital role in restoring the command’s infrastructure, enhancing operational capabilities, and ensuring efficient and effective policing services to the residents of Kano State.
