The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has issued a statement addressing an old video that recently resurfaced and went viral on social media.
The video, dated Sunday, April 9, 2023, depicted some police officers engaged in assault, discreditable conduct, and incivility towards members of the public in Emouha, Rivers State.
According to the NPF, the matter was thoroughly investigated, and public dissemination of information on police actions was provided via a press statement released on Sunday, September 24, 2023, by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer (PRO) at Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The statement was dated April 18, 2023, with reference number CZ.5300/FPRD/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.5/52.
As a result of the complaints and a subsequent orderly room trial, Inspector Adejoh Siaka was demoted from Inspector to Sergeant, while Sergeant Ndiwa Kpuebari received a severe reprimand for their roles in the incident. Inspector Friday Obaka, who was not present at the scene, was discharged unconditionally.
The NPF expressed astonishment at the video’s renewed circulation, describing it as an attempt to tarnish the Force’s reputation and create a false impression about the Police. They cautioned individuals to verify facts before making unfounded claims about such matters on social media and urged the public to disregard the video.
