Nigerian Army’s Counter-Terrorism Operations Yield Significant Successes

In a series of decisive operations, Nigerian Army troops engaged in counter-terrorism efforts have achieved significant successes in the ongoing battle against terrorism and insurgency.

The operations, spanning across Kaduna, Zamfara, and Abia states, highlight the military’s steadfast commitment to national security and the protection of citizens.

Kaduna State Triumph:
Troops conducted a two-day fighting patrol in Kajuru and Kachia Local Government Areas of Kaduna State, culminating in the neutralization of five terrorists in a fierce combat at Dantarau. Following the successful engagement, the gallant troops recovered a cache of arms, including AK-47 rifles, a fabricated submachine gun, ammunition, motorcycles, and handheld radios. This operation significantly disrupted terrorist activities along the Maro-Enugu community axis, enhancing security in the region.

Zamfara State Rescue Mission:
Responding to a distress call along the Gusau-Tsafe-Funtua road, troops thwarted a kidnap attempt in Angwan Chida area of Tsafe Local Government Area. Engaging terrorists attempting to abduct occupants of a Toyota Corolla, troops neutralized two terrorists and rescued four passengers. The operation led to the recovery of weapons and ammunition, along with the vehicle involved in the attempted abduction, bolstering security along the route.

Abia State Raid Success:
In Abia State, troops raided an identified IPOB/ESN enclave situated in Igboro Forest, Arochukwu Local Government Area. Despite encountering improvised explosive devices planted by terrorists, troops recovered locally fabricated Rocket-Propelled Grenades and an Artillery Gun. The superior firepower of the troops forced the terrorists to flee, resulting in the destruction of their camp. While one soldier sustained minor injuries, the operation dealt a significant blow to terrorist elements in the area.
