The Nigerian Army has reunited Lydia Simon, a Chibok schoolgirl abducted by Boko Haram in April 2014, with her family.
Alongside her three children, Lydia was handed over to the Borno State Government by Major General Waidi Shuaibu, Theatre Commander of North-East Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, at a ceremony held at the Mailmalari Cantonment in Maiduguri, the state capital.
According to Major General Shuaibu, troops from the 82 Division Task Force Battalion rescued Lydia, who was pregnant at the time, and her children on April 17 in Gwoza Local Government Area. She is the 18th rescued girl among those abducted in 2014, a case that drew national and international attention with the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls.
