Nigerian Army Launches Exercise SHINING STAR Course Four 2023 for Enhanced Security Training

The Nigerian Army, through its official Twitter handle @HQNigerianArmy, has announced the commencement of Exercise SHINING STAR Course Four 2023.

The initiative aims to provide Basic Battle Training for young officers and soldiers within the 3 Division, ensuring their preparedness to effectively address emerging security challenges. The inauguration of the exercise was officiated by Major General AE Abubakar, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 3 Division and Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), on August 24, 2023.

The inaugural event took place at the 3 Division Small Arms Range Miango Jos, where Major General AE Abubakar, also the special Guest of Honour, highlighted the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to training its troops for the enhancement of citizens’ safety and the protection of properties. He emphasized the importance of realistic training to equip troops with the necessary skills to respond effectively to emerging security threats.

The Post Basic training exercise, a strategic initiative organized across all divisions, aims to provide young officers and soldiers with comprehensive and battle-focused training.

This training not only enhances their tactical capabilities but also equips them to effectively employ weapons in both day and night operations. Major General AE Abubakar urged the participants to approach the training with dedication and commitment.

The Acting Commander of the 3 Division Training School Jos, Colonel Aliyu Aminu, underscored the importance of continually enhancing troops’ capacity to meet evolving security challenges. He expressed gratitude to Major General AE Abubakar for prioritizing and supporting the training of young officers and soldiers.

The Exercise SHINING STAR Course Four 2023 initiative is in line with the Nigerian Army’s vision to continually strengthen its personnel’s skills and preparedness to ensure the security and stability of the nation. It reflects the commitment of the Nigerian Army’s leadership, including the Chief of Army Staff, to provide troops with the necessary training to tackle security challenges effectively.
