Nigerian Army Condemns Attack on Troops in Abia State, Vows Fierce Response

In a recent press release issued by the Nigerian Army’s Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, a condemnable attack on troops of Operation UDO KA in Abia State has been reported.

The incident occurred on the 30th of May, 2024, at the Obikabia Junction Checkpoint in Obingwa Local Government Area, adjacent to the Aba metropolis.

According to the statement, the troops, deployed to maintain peace in the area and safeguard citizens, were ambushed and tragically killed by terrorists belonging to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN). The attackers, reportedly armed and arriving in three tinted Prado Toyota SUVs, along with reinforcements from nearby built-up areas, launched a sudden assault on the checkpoint.
