Installation of the e-Gates facility commenced at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, in February 2024. This initiative marked a significant milestone as the airport became the first in Nigeria to adopt such advanced border management technology.
The government has plans to extend the e-Gates system to all five of the country’s international airports, including those in Lagos, Kano, Enugu, and Port Harcourt. Once operational, these e-Gates are expected to reduce passenger processing times and enhance overall efficiency at these airports.
The ongoing progress in the installation of e-Gates at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport underscores Nigeria’s commitment to modernizing its aviation infrastructure and improving travel experiences for both domestic and international passengers.
