Niger Delta Leaders Extend Solidarity Visit to Wike

Prominent leaders from many ethnic groups in the Niger Delta region recently made a solidarity visit to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike. During the visit, they thanked President Bola Tinubu for selecting Wike to his cabinet and congratulated him on his ministerial appointment.

A 60-member delegation led by Prof A.W. Obianime, former President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), expressed their opinions on the present political developments in Rivers State. They emphasized Rivers State’s strategic importance to the South-South region and the imperative of avoiding any political instability.

The leaders strongly criticized what they called “mischievous attempts” within the State House of Assembly to impeach Rivers State Governor, alleging claims of ‘gross misconduct.’ They condemned such actions and urged all sides to seek a peaceful solution.

They emphasized Wike’s influence in Rivers State and his capacity to negotiate amongst political interests. The leaders urged him to utilize his clout and serve as a peacemaker to end the dispute.
