“The Minister of Works, David Umahi has finalized discussions with investors from the Netherlands to attract a grant of €25m for the construction of priority bridges in Nigeria,” the statement revealed.
The Minister emphasized the potential for collaboration on various projects, expressing the importance of securing the grant for the identified bridges. “We have a number of projects that we can do together. But I think the best thing to do is to conclude this one, which is a grant, then get the process started, and at the point of agreement and project selection, we shall refer to Mr. President for his approval,” he stated.
During the meeting, the Nigerian Ambassador to the Netherlands shed light on the purpose of the delegation’s visit, stating that they were exploring an opportunity presented by Janson Bridging International for investments in Nigeria’s road infrastructure.
“Janson Bridging is the largest modular bridge manufacturing and bridging company in continental Europe and the largest bridge rental company in the world,” he added.
This collaboration between the Nigerian government and Dutch investors marks a positive step towards addressing critical infrastructure needs in the country. The €25 million grant is expected to play a pivotal role in the construction of essential bridges, contributing to improved connectivity and economic development in Nigeria. The successful negotiation reflects the commitment of both nations to fostering international partnerships for sustainable infrastructure projects.
