NEF Regrets Support for Tinubu in 2023 Presidential Election

In a notable turn of events, the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has expressed remorse over the region’s backing of President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election, citing the need for unity and consensus in future candidate selections.

Despite President Tinubu garnering the highest number of votes from the region among the three major contenders in the 2023 race, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, the spokesperson for the NEF, emphasized the imperative of prioritizing a candidate capable of fostering inclusivity and unity across the nation.

During an interview with Guardian on Tuesday, Suleiman underscored the region’s resolve to avoid repeating past errors, asserting, “It is improbable that the North will make the same mistake again by electing Bola Tinubu to the presidency in 2023.”
