In a series of successful operations, the Nasarawa State Police Command, through the X-handle of the Nigeria Police Force, @PoliceNG, said that they have apprehended 29 suspects involved in various criminal activities.
Alongside these arrests, the authorities have managed to seize four firearms, recover 11 rounds of ammunition, and retrieve a stolen vehicle.
Arrest of Suspected Kidnappers and Recovery of Firearms:
On separate occasions, the police arrested Bawa Adamu and Amadu Buba in possession of a locally fabricated gun on August 24, 2023. Additionally, on September 18, 2023, an AK47 rifle and ammunition were recovered from Wassa village, Sanga LGA. The State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia is diligently investigating these cases.
Crackdown on Suspected Kidnappers:
In a significant breakthrough on August 31, 2023, Ogani Dauda, Hamisu Ibrahim, and Ishaku Alhaji Ruwa were arrested. These individuals are believed to be responsible for a series of kidnappings across Nasarawa Eggon, Akwanga, and Kokona LGAs. They were also linked to armed robberies along the Nasarawa Eggon-Akwanga highway. Furthermore, on September 4, 2023, Abdulraham Abubakar was arrested for his involvement in kidnapping activities. The police are continuing their investigations to apprehend other members of these criminal groups.
Apprehension of More Kidnapping Suspects:
On September 2, 2023, four suspects were taken into custody for invading Alhaji Guda Dari’s residence. Notably, they had taken his ram for roasting before embarking on a kidnapping operation. Separately, on September 13, 2023, another suspect was arrested for his involvement in a kidnapping case dating back to January 2023. Police divisions are actively pursuing these cases.
Cracking Down on Armed Robbery:
A significant breakthrough was made on September 25, 2023, when two suspects were arrested for carjacking at gunpoint. Authorities recovered a locally fabricated pistol, ammunition, and the stolen vehicle. The Mararaba ‘B’ Division is handling the investigation.
Cultist Arrest and Recovery of Firearms:
On September 25, 2023, a police operation led to the arrest of four suspects at a known cultist hideout. During this operation, a locally fabricated pistol, cartridges, berets, and occultic items were seized. The State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia is actively investigating this case. Notably, one suspect attempted to bribe operatives with N30,000, an offer that was promptly declined.
Arrests for Stealing and Rape:
On separate occasions in August 2023, Zakari Abdullahi and Bello Saleh were arrested for heinous crimes. Abdullahi lured a girl into a guest house, where he raped her and stole her belongings. Saleh, on the other hand, committed rape in a primary school classroom. Both suspects were apprehended, confessed to their crimes, and are set to face charges in court.
Rape Suspects in Custody:
Several suspects who committed sexual offenses against minors have also been arrested on various dates. These individuals have confessed to their actions and will face legal proceedings.
Apprehending Suspected Armed Robbers:
On September 20, 2023, James Ozegyam and Peace James were taken into custody for blocking Yelwa-Igbabo road, snatching a motorcycle, and robbing road users. Similarly, on September 12, 2023, Saidu Musa, Gabriel Salihu, and Nafiu Yahaya were arrested for blocking the Adevi-Obi feeder road and snatching motorcycles. Investigations into these cases are ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia.
These recent achievements by the Nasarawa State Police Command underscore their commitment to upholding law and order within the state.
