In a significant development regarding the investigation into the untimely demise of Nigerian singer Mohbad, Director of Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, Dr. Richard Somaiari, has revealed that the first set of autopsy results is poised to be released within the next three to four weeks.
During a coroner’s inquest held on Wednesday, Dr. Somaiari conveyed that the autopsy process would be finalized within the aforementioned timeframe, shedding light on the ongoing efforts to ascertain the cause of the singer’s death.

Mohbad, aged 27, passed away on September 12, 2023, under circumstances shrouded in mystery, prompting calls from both the Lagos state government and the public for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his demise.
Addressing the coroner, Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi, Dr. Somiari elucidated on the investigative process, stating, “We are expected to get the first set of autopsy results in three to four weeks and re-confirm to authenticate the cause of death.” He further emphasized the meticulous approach taken, including the exploration of various possibilities, including the potential involvement of poison, given the absence of a definitive cause.
Dr. Somaiari reassured the court of the stringent protocols in place to ensure the integrity and security of the results, highlighting the meticulous monitoring of samples sent abroad for analysis.
Meanwhile, amidst the ongoing investigation, the Lagos State Police Command has dispelled rumors of the re-arrest of Mohbad’s friend, Primeboy, in connection with the singer’s demise. Contrary to speculation, authorities affirmed that Primeboy has been actively cooperating with the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), regularly attending scheduled visits as part of the ongoing probe.
