Saidu Alkali, the Minister of Transportation, has visited the Idu Train station in Abuja and expressed his dissatisfaction with the state of affairs at the station.
During the unscheduled visit on Sunday, Alkali addressed several issues affecting the station and hinted at the possibility of disciplinary action against the Managing Director (MD) of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC).
Alkali revealed that he had received complaints from security escorts regarding the non-payment of their allowances over the past five months.

He also highlighted that the lifts and escalators at the station were not operational, making it particularly challenging for elderly and disabled individuals to utilize the train services for travel.

Expressing his concerns, Alkali stated that the MD of NRC is scheduled to appear before the ministry on Tuesday to provide a briefing on these matters. He indicated that the MD’s explanation during the meeting would determine whether disciplinary action would be taken against him.
